Childaid Network celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. For ten years, the Foundation’s team has been committed to providing access to basic education and vocational training for young people who can not go to school. With more than € 6.5 million in project funding, the lives of more than 110,000 children and adolescents were permanently changed during this time. An astounding success story.
Instead of having a gala and a big celebration, Childaid Network wants to use this event to gain even more attention during the jubilee year and to find more people on the network who are committed to needy children. Shary Reeves, presenter, actress and author has now given her energetic support and patronage to these actions.
Shary Reeves, Cologne stage profi with African roots, is known to many as the presenter of the TV program „Wissen macht Ah!“ of the WDR. With her charm, her wit and her energy, she captivates the young audience there. As a former Bundesliga footballer, a sought-after participant in talkshows and a successful rap musician, she also enchants many other target groups.
But what makes her special is her commitment to a better world. Authentically and whole-heartedly, she supports children’s initiatives, tolerance and justice, and more environmental awareness. That is why, in 2016, she was awarded the Verdienstorden of Germany by President Joachim Gauck.
„I have gladly taken the patronage of Childaid Network’s anniversary campaign,“ she says. „The foundation team takes care of young people who are neglected at the edge of society, often exploited and without opportunities. The fact that they help them to get a good education and enable them to take their own future is well suited to my basic position. Education is the best aid against hunger and disease. Knowledge creates change and opportunities. “
The highlight of the campaigns will be a major children’s rights day in Frankfurt. On 31 May, the day before the International Day of the Child, Childaid Network invites student councils from all over Hesse to discuss with experts and to pass a resolution on children’s rights together. Childaid Network also provides a children’s rights guide, which provides detailed information on the children’s rights convention as well as the actual situation of children worldwide. The schoolchildren are to be encouraged with it to a school action, in order to anch the children’s rights in their schools and beyond.
In addition to Shary Reeves, Mrs. Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, deputy chairman of UNICEF Deutschland, will be holding a keynote. Daniel Fischer of FFH moderates the event. For further information please contact: [email protected]
